Classes
Class Description
- Ballet: Adhering to RAD syllabus from Pre Primary to Advanced with exam entries at the end of each season. Adult Classes are available.
- Pre- School Dance: Imaginative exploration of music and movement starting at 3 years old.
- Modern Stage: Adhering to the ISTD syllabus from Grade 1 to Advanced with exam entries at the end of each season.
- Jazz: free style classes with a variety of styles and choreography for the serious or recreational dancer from beginner to advanced. Adult classes are available.
- Hip Hop: A challenging but fun exploration of hip hop styles from beginner to advanced taken to a competitive level.
- Tap: Adhering to the AIDT syllabus from Beginner to Gold Standard. Adult classes are available.
- Contemporary: Dance as an expression of the words or music based on a fusion of ballet, jazz and modern dance vocabulary. Adult classes available.
- Musical Theatre: Dance Acting and Voice work for a musical theatre setting.
- Zumba: A fitness/dance class based on Latin and international music with a fun and effective workout system. Adults classes only.
- Stretch and Strength: Works the body to a core level of strength, control, flexibility and endurance. (grade 4 ballet and above)
Our teachers, who are registered with the Royal Academy of Dancing (RAD – Ballet), Association of International Dance Teachers (AIDT – Tap) and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD – Modern Jazz), may enter students in examinations. These exams are a benchmark of progress and at higher levels provide for course credits in Fine Art at the Senior School level and pre requisite for university entrance.
Although all students that take syllabus classes must be prepared to take exams, not all students will be ready when candidates are chosen by their teachers. Recreational classes are available for those not wishing to enter exams.
Please note: If your child does not wish to perform or withdraws from classes his/her teacher needs to know before December 15th After this date costume fees are non refundable.
When the school board calls a snow day we do too! No dance on snow days.
Please make sure you meet the deadlines for exam entries, solo entries and costume fees!
Give your teacher plenty of warning if you are away for festival or the recital!
